Custom Boxes
If you don’t see anything on this website that fits your needs, I’ll be happy to work with you to design a custom jewelry or keepsake box to your specifications. I’ve outlined some of process below to get you started. When you’re ready, email me and we can talk more about what you want.
Step 1 - Box Type
I can craft boxes in several different styles:
Simple Lid - Lid is not attached to the box, but rather simply rests on the top of the box. Held in place by a wood insert.
Integrated Hinge Lid - Lid is attached to the box via an integrated hinge mechanism.
Insert Lid - Lid has wood inserts that slip into the box, holding it in place.
Fitted Lid - The top is slightly larger than the box, allowing it to fit over the box.
Drawer - Box fitted with a slide-out drawer.
Open Box - Box with no top.
Step 2 - Wood
I typically have several varieties of wood on hand and can always special order specific or exotic woods upon request. I most commonly use the following:
Step 4 - Design
Boxes can be simple or as ornate as you want. Designs can be laser-etched, scored, cut out or wood inlay, depending on what you’re looking for. I have a stock library of designs or we can design something unique for your box.
Step 5 - Price
The final price of a custom box order will be determined by size, wood type and complexity of the design. For example, a simple 3” x 3” x 1.5” Maple hardwood box with a scored or laser-etched design would be priced at $19.95. The price would increase with the size of the box or special wood requests. I do charge extra for wood inlay designs due to the labor involved.
Step 3 - Box Size
I can make jewelry and keepsake boxes in nearly any shape or size. Let me know what you think you’ll need and we can work out a specific size. My stock sizes are 3” x 3” x 1.5”, 4” x 4” x 1.5” and 4” x 6” x 2”.
Delivery Timeline
If I have the wood in stock, I can usually turn-around custom orders with 1-2 days after we agree on the specifics. Pre-payment is required for custom orders. I ship via USPS Ground Advantage which has a typical delivery time of 2-5 business days. If you need faster shipping, that would be an extra cost. And, as you might expect, holidays, trucking strikes, hurricanes and many other factors can also affect delivery but I’ll try not to let that happen.
